Bible Principles Every Child Should Know

First things first, this isn’t about being a Christian. This is simply good advice for parents and kids, I just happen to get my advice from the Bible rather than a parenting book….so please don’t feel this isn’t written for you ❤

  1. Family is important: Respect and discussion help with learning. As a parent you learn something new about your child as they develop and your child will learn from your wisdom and experience.     Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. Proverbs 1:8
  2. Truth is always better than lying: This is about trust. If you’re truthful with them (and don’t explode when they’re truthful about something bad with you) then they will tell you the truth.        A lying tongue hates its victims, and flattering words cause ruin. Proverbs 26:28
  3. They are here for a reason: Whether or not they were the result of a planned pregnancy is irrelevant. They are unique and will have a unique job or role in this world. Remind them they are special and help them build their self-worth.          For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
  4. Don’t follow the crowd: Emphasize their uniqueness, encourage their natural talents and interests, this will show them that not doing what their peers are doing is OK!          Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2
  5. Last, but not least, they are loved. Always. No matter what.      Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34  Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord. Ephesians 6:4

Have a blessed day everyone, thanks for reading x
