Hi-de-hi Peeps!
We’re always saving for something; to get out of debt, to save for a house/university/retirement, Christmas (a mere 11 weeks today 🙂 ) or maybe even a once-in-a-lifetime trip. So I thought I’d share some selling tips for your unwanted bits n bobs.
1) Be Ruthless: If you have a lot of stuff around the place, try to minimize it. If you haven’t used it in 6 months and have no deep sentimental attachment, then flog it.
2) Choose your method: There are heaps of ways to sell something; local newspapers, car boot sales, house/garage sales, online through sites such as eBay, Facebook groups and Gumtree. Check the rules, for example, you can’t usually sell electricals at boot sales and no weapons most places.
3) Don’t underestimate your clutter: The saying “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” couldn’t be truer. There are even people out there that will buy broken crockery and off-cuts of wood for craft projects. People list stuff from ÂŁ1 to ÂŁ1000, so anything goes!
4) Do your research: know what you’re selling (is it a popular brand name for example?) and check out prices similar items have sold for online, then price yours accordingly.
5) Don’t be tempted: Don’t go shopping with your newly-earned cash! (Unless you were saving to do just that of course!) eBay and boot sales are tempting to browse, but won’t help your pocket. Ditch the retail therapy for selling…it can be just as addictive!
