Hi-de-ho Peeps!
My dad would say it’s lovely weather for ducks….but I’m not sure even ducks like it this wet! Absolutely pelting it down here!
Anyhoo, I wanted to share my favourite smart shopping tip, so here are some ways to pep-up some things you can buy cheaply.
- buy cheap candles (like supermarket own) and buy holders in charity shops…look exactly the same as any designer table display. Also, think outside the box, you can use drink glasses for tealight/votive holders.
- Ribbons are a lifesaver: They can be pricey so check your pound-store or ask a fabric shop for off-cuts. But a good ribbon can make a hundred things look better; you can add a bow to a cheap hairband, put cheap sweets in a jar and add a bow for an instant gift, use them in planners/to make posh bookmarks…I could go on…
- Buy cheap flowers and accent them: A cheap bunch of carnations with 3 roses in is less than half the price of a full bunch of roses. You could buy a couple of different cheap garage bunches and put them together to make an impressive bunch for a fraction of a florist’s cost. Alternatively, you can spruce them up with bows, foliage or the sparkly twigs, cones and such…these can be pricey but are reusable.
- Buy bulk and split it up: Whether food or gifts, buy multipacks and share it out. Buying a set of toiletries as a gift is great, but take them out of the box and wrap separately, put them in a basket and add a bow (see, I said the ribbon would be worth buying!)
- Scour the shops: Some discount stores sell off end-of-line stuff or very close copies of big brands, so it’ll look pricier than it is. Also, if you’re giving food and drink, decant it into a jar or bottle, then no-one will know it’s supermarket own-brand.
I can offer a dozen more, but don’t want to overwhelm you and scare you away 😉 so I’ll leave it there…for now.
Have a good one peeps, stay safe and, if possible, dry!
