Morning Peeps!
Last day of school today!!! The teenager is quite pleased (understatement of the century)!
My food delivery comes this evening, so it really will be Christmas then…this got me thinking about some yummy food and tips I have for you…so here goes:
Festive recipes from others:
These White Chocolate clusters, from the blog Garlic and Olive Oil Veins, are quick and easy to make as treats for home or to give away.
Want something a bit lighter than Christmas Pud? Try this Baklava from Cooking Without Limits.
Don’t know what to do with sprouts? Try this roasted carrot and sprout combo from Local Farm OK… love them!
Cookies for Santa don’t come much yummier than these Caramel-stuffed Cookies by Cooking With A Wallflower.
My advice? It’s never too late to make Spiced Blueberry Jam or Pear and Walnut Chutney… especially if you’re gonna have a cheeseboard to use it with! 😉 mmmm…cheese and chutney….. ❤
Food tips:
Number 1 has to be my mum’s advice; don’t waste anything! Any bread on the turn can be made into breadcrumbs and frozen…bruised fruit can be (cooked, if necessary) mashed and frozen to make smoothies, sauces or pie fillings later on…Roast veg can be mashed up and fried as Bubble n Squeak to be eaten with leftover meat and cheese *drool*… The main thing is to cover and store appropriately anything that is left.
My advice is to freeze extra milk, butter and bread so you can make sandwiches and cups of tea if you have nothing else. (Also useful in the event of being snowed in.)
Have a lovely day my friends, I’m off to wrap prezzies!
