Hi-de-hi Peeps!
If you know me at all, you probably know what I’m going to say….IT’S FIVE MONTH’S UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!!!! (Yes I know it’s the first day of summer holidays, but that doesn’t change the date!)
Part of the reason I start doing Christmas so early is because of the budget; I don’t have a job or credit card that allows me to blow £500+ on a shopping trip in December.
5 months (just over 20 weeks) could give you a nice savings pot of £200 towards Christmas if you save £10 per week.
Alternatively, you could buy a bit at a time (or do a mixture of both). I have the pleasure of working in a seaside gift shop, so I often see stock and think “oooh so-and-so would like that.” I had a lovely conversation with a couple the other day who bought 5 or 6 of the same thing and said they were doing Christmas hampers for their friends and just buy bits as they see them. (How lovely!) The advantage of doing this is that you don’t have money sat around tempting you to spend it. Also, you can take advantage of the sales; usually around back-to-school time, the card shops will put out last year’s stock of cards and wrap…great time to get the good stuff cheap!
Another thing I’ve realised this year is that some people (including me) have seasonal jobs where they earn more at certain times of the year. This year it would make sense for me to buy some bits and put money back in July and August as that’s when I get the most work.
So I guess I need to go hunt up some bargains! I highly recommend it. 🙂
Have a lovely day!
