Howdy Peeps!
I was sat in church a couple of Sundays ago and one of the songs we were singing said about loving God with all of our hearts (as Jesus commanded).
It got me thinking. I never liked greetings cards that say ‘I love you with my whole heart’, ‘you’re my whole world’ or ‘things like that. Before, I used to think it was because I have lots of family I love, but I think it’s also because of this.
God should have our first fruits, including our love first. Then spouse, children and everyone else.
Matthew 22:37-40 (NIV)
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
I just thought it was a good reminder of where our priorities should be and to not say things flippantly that we don’t mean/can’t fulfil.
Have a blessed and safe day.
