Hello Tuesday Peeps!
First things first; IT’S 3 WEEKS TIL CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!
Secondly, we have had the Met Office predictions and there is a possibility of white stuff around Christmas! If you live in the UK you’ll know we don’t get much snow here, especially down south, so it’s always a big question.
I think that our little part of Cornwall is going to be warmer and wetter the weeks around Christmas but we may get some snow after that. In truth, 2 of the last 3 years we’ve been the warmest place in England on Christmas day! Interesting, but not very festive. The locals here said it hadn’t snowed at all here for a good 20+ years, but this last February/March it snowed several days, 2 of which were heavy enough to cause disruption….so now we’re all more excited by the possibility!
As beautiful as it sounds, a white Christmas causes grief. The UK isn’t prepared as well as countries who have snow regularly, travel is disrupted, deliveries don’t arrive and power supplies can be damaged. The one year it did snow heavily before Christmas (I think it was 2010.. where we used to live, not here) we were all worried about getting to family and food supplies and elderly neighbours struggling…turns out that the roads were clear and the snow was gathered prettily on unused fields.
This is how Michael McIntyre explains it: (Snow part about 1:15 in, but whole thing worth a watch 😉 )
So do I want a White Christmas? Of course I do!…in theory. In reality, I don’t want to miss going to see family, but I’m much more chilled about it now…if we are stuck we’ll celebrate differently, but we’ll still celebrate…Christmas Spirit isn’t about one day.
“And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow,
stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled ’till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”

Have a great day!
