What a start to the new year!
New Year’s day we were treated to the first episode of Dr Who (series 12). This was part one of a special and they definitely went all out for it, this was a sleek, effects-filled, Bond inspired piece of entertainment and we loved it! Jodie is still one of the best Doctors, there were awesome guest stars (Like Lenny Henry!) and th aliens were suitably creepy and engaging.
I binge-watched series 2 of Lost In Space on Netflix the other day because I had to make sure the robot was OK :S Loved it even more than season 1, and some secondary characters from then get much better storylines this time around.
While we’re on the subject of Netflix, yesterday was the release of Anne with an E season 3!!! If you’ve ever read anything I write about books, it probably includes Anne of Green Gables as I read the whole set of books at least once a year (second only to Dickens). I knew going into this what to expect because I’ve read the books and saw the previous series, so I was prepared for the fact that they stray from the original a fair bit. This, however, is one of the rare occasions where I don’t mind! It’s a fabulous version and the themes of love and empowerment are still the main focus…the cast are absolutely true to the book and exquisite young actors. The teenager and I have watched the whole series in a day, we just couldn’t stop!
I also recently watched a film called Instant Family (Starring Mark Wahlberg) which is based on a true story about a couple who went to adopt a child and ended up with 3 siblings. It’s hilarious, heart-warming, honest and brilliantly acted…definitely worth a watch.
What are you looking forward to seeing this year? (Perhaps it includes the live-action Mulan!) Let me know if you’ve seen any of the things I’ve mentioned or have any recommendations for me.
